APPRENTICESHIP AND TRAINEESHIP PATHWAY
The program is funded by the Queensland State Government and contributes towards the cost of training for eligible Queensland apprentices and trainees. The program aims to provide funding aligned to the current skill needs of a variety of industries and respond to changing government priorities.
HOW APPRENTICESHIP AND TRAINING PATHWAY WORKS
The program provides the flexibility for apprentices, trainees and their employers to choose a preferred Registered Training Organisation (RTO) such as Work Skills from a list of Skills Assure Suppliers for the delivery of accredited training and assessment to meet their specific needs.
The subsidy funding is paid directly to Work Skills on behalf of the apprentice or trainee once training is delivered and any Student Contribution Fees are paid by the student or employer – $1.60 per nominal hour.
It is a Work Skills policy to ensure that costs are kept to a minimum however other costs may be incurred in the delivery of the training. School-based apprentices and trainees are not required to pay Student Contribution Fees while they are still at school and will be required to pay fees once their training contract has been converted to full-time or part-time (post school) for training and assessment for any units of competency not yet commenced. This does not apply to Free Apprenticeships for under 25s.
For full fee details refer to: SERVICE FEES, PAYMENTS AND REFUND POLICY AND PROCEDURE
AM I ELIGIBLE?
To be eligible to receive government subsidised training, the apprentice or trainee must:
- have entered into a Contract (training contract) for a qualification that is funded by DTET and be registered on DTET’s training database;
- if from overseas, have a visa allowing them to work in Australia; and
- not have already completed two apprenticeship/traineeship qualifications (including SATs) within the last 10 years.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Students are advised they may be contacted by the Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET) to provide specific feedback about their training experience with Work Skills. It is important that you take the time to consider and compare your training options and costs as a completion of Certificate III level qualification may affect entitlement to subsidy in the future.
