USER CHOICE FUNDING
The User Choice program is funded by the Queensland State Government and contributes towards the cost of training for eligible Queensland apprentices and trainees. The program aims to provide funding aligned to the current skill needs of a variety of industries and respond to changing government priorities.
The percentage of funding available is dependent on the qualification and skill priority established by the Department of Youth Justice, Employment, Small Business and Training and not all apprenticeships and traineeships are eligible for Government funding.

HOW USER CHOICE WORKS
The User Choice 2021-2023 program provides the flexibility for apprentices, trainees and their employers to choose a preferred Registered Training Organisation (RTO) such as Work Skills from a list of Skills Assure Suppliers for the delivery of accredited training and assessment to meet their specific needs.
The subsidy funding is paid directly to Work Skills on behalf of the apprentice or trainee once training is delivered and any Student Contribution Fees are paid by the student or employer – $1.60 per nominal hour.
USER CHOICE POLICY
It is a Work Skills policy to ensure that costs are kept to a minimum however other costs may be incurred in the delivery of the training. School-based apprentices and trainees are not required to pay Student Contribution Fees while they are still at school but may be required to pay fees once their training contract has been converted to full-time or part-time post school.
AM I ELIGIBLE?
To be eligible for a Queensland State Government contribution toward the costs of training, an apprentice or trainee must:
- Be employed in an approved apprenticeship or traineeship
